Fantastic experience: I spent four weeks at BLI doing a super intensive program. I had limited experience learning French beforehand. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The school has fantastic instructors and flexibility regarding moving up or below a class level. I felt the course was relatively inexpensive compared to other immersion opportunities to learn French. The ability to choose the number of classes, number of weeks, and homestay option fit well within my busy schedule as a mid-career professional. Lastly, Quebec City is the one the most beautiful cities in North America. The perfect backdrop by a foreign language journey. Ultimately, I met my language goal and achieved intermediate fluency in French. If you're serious about learning French and you're looking for a flexible and affordable program I highly recommend BLI. Je me souviens. -Adel

Fantastic experience: I spent two weeks at BLI Quebec for an immersion program to improve my French. The staff was always very attentive and responsive. They placed me in a class that matched my level and also helped me find a host family based on my interests. I was very happy with my experience at the school. The teaching method is dynamic, and the teachers, Magalie and Matthieu, were excellent and fundamental for my progress.

Fantastic experience: 12月の終わりから通い始めて2ヶ月が経ちました。初日に「どのレベルから始めたいか」と聞かれた事も分からないくらいのレベルでしたが、2ヶ月経った今A2.2のレベルまで順調にくることができました。授業はフランス語で行われるので、テキストに書いてある事も先生が言っていることも何も分からない状況でのクラスはとても大変でしたが、先生達がとても協力的で分かるまで何度も教えてくれるので少しずつ理解できるようになっているのを自分でも感じました。あと1ヶ月ほどしかありませんが、少しでもフランス語が上達するようにがんばります！

Fantastic experience: I just had a great month with BLI Quebec, and I'd come back without a worry. My experience with two teachers was great, and it was clear that they care about the students and their learning. I was worried about the "exam" focus as Ryan had mentioned in their review, but overall it didn't seem bad to me. Every other week you have part of the 3 hour first class dedicated to a test, which ended up being a good opportunity to see how well I understood the material. There is time dedicated to completing exercises in the course material, but it is then reviewed and completed together. On new topics this allowed me to have some time to test and reflect on my answers. For me, this was very useful for learning. In my month there was only one student who was there physically but not mentally, which was annoying, but also a better ratio than I expected. I did hear from some other students that their homestay families had "quirks", but mine were both incredibly kind and very much welcomed me into their family. I found the intensive to be great. After the focus on acquisition in the morning, the communication workshop provided an opportunity to practice speaking and developing language. The "specialized elective" was fantastic. We were able to identify areas or difficulty which we could then focus on specifically. As others have mentioned, you can start any Monday but I think the best experience is starting on the first Monday of the month. I'd avoid starting on the 2nd or 4th week of the month if possible. If you were coming for just one week, I'd definitely choose week 1 or 3 to get the most instruction for your money.

Positive experience: Estudié 8 meses en Bli, mi experiencia general fue buena. Los profesores están bien capacitados y la mayoría son muy competentes (con algunas excepciones) la instalación es un lugar acogedor y muy bien conservado ya que lo limpian regularmente, los chicos de la recepción son bien colaborativos a la hora de ayudarte con cualquier problema que tengas. Tal vez mi unico choque fuerte con el curso como tal es la forma tan técnica y enrevesada en la que se explica la parte gramatical del idioma, aunque no todos los profesores explican de esta manera, siento que es una situación general en todos los cursos medianos y avanzados, y sé que hay formas de explicar la gramatica de una manera mas campechana porque la forma en la que me tocó aprender fue viendo videos en youtube de personas que explicaban los mismos temas gramaticales haciendolo ver mucho mas facil y sencillos mientras que en BLI lo hacían ver como una ecuación matemática. El resto de cosas que tengo que decir tienen que ver con el precio de los libros los cuales cuestan 30 dólares por nivel, lo cual me parece bastante costoso teniendo en cuenta lo que ya pagaste por el curso. Estoy agradecido con el curso por que llegué a Quebec sin saber decir nada y me fui pudiendo hablar con el barbero únicamente en frances, aunque para llegar allá yo también puse de mi parte viendo videos y escuchando programas en el idioma, pero sin la base que me otorgó el curso hubiera sido mas difícil el poder haber llegado a ese punto.

Fantastic experience: A escola BLI é uma ótima opção para quem quer estudar francês, desde iniciante até quem já tem algum nível da língua. A escola é dinâmica, tem bons professores, respeita a diversidade e a diferença de níveis entre os alunos. A localização é excelente. Eu fiz uma curso intensivo durante uma mês e achei que valeu a pena, me estimulou a continuar estudando quando após meu retorno ao Brasil.

Fantastic experience: Les quatre dernières semaines de mon cours de français ont été merveilleuses. L'atmosphère est agréable et les gens sont accueillants et sympathiques. Tous les professeurs ont été formidables, patients dans l'explication de tous les doutes, même persistants, et attentifs à élargir notre connaissance de la culture québécoise, à accroître notre immersion dans la culture francophone. J'ai adoré l'expérience de l'immersion complète dans la langue, qui a entraîné une évolution significative de mes connaissances et de mon discours en peu de temps. En conséquence, je quitte le cours en me sentant confiante d'inclure le français dans ma vie quotidienne.

Fantastic experience: Je veux remercier à toute l’équipe de l’école BLI Québec pour ses apprentissages et expériences avec moi. Je suis arrivé chez BLI en septembre 2023 avec l’objectif d’apprendre le français pour poursuivre mes études au cégep. Avec beaucoup d’effort et d’aide des professeurs comme Justine et Jean-Charles, j’ai réussi à apprendre et démontrer mes connaissances en français en 9 mois. J’ai beaucoup aimé mon passage à BLI parce que l’équipe et ses installations m’ont fait sentir en famille loin de mon pays. Cette expérience m’a aidé à connaître davantage la culture québécoise et m’intégrer à la société. BLI Québec aura toujours une place dans ma mémoire comme l’endroit où j’ai commencé mon chemin au Canada.

Fantastic experience: I definitely appreciate the 5 months I spent studying French at BLI. If you're looking for a fun, friendly school atmosphere, this is the place to go. It has the Quebec warmth, relational and sometimes informal. I definitely had my favorites among the teachers, but I think they are all pretty good, it just depends a bit on what personality you click with for your learning style. The online platform used here can be a little clunky and freezes up frequently, but I had an overall good experience of having my French grammar questions answered and explained. Others mentioned difficulty with finding out the pricing, but I had a good experience of having that laid out for me in an email before I signed up, so I would recommend asking more questions if you are unsure. My advice: do not just launch in at anytime, make sure you start at the beginning of a session (a new one begins every 4 weeks). They will tell you that you can start any Monday, but you will regret launching into the middle of a level, and it's hard for the rest of your class. In general, you will get out approximately what you put into the courses here.

Negative experience: BLI prides themselves on being a bilingual organisation but the homeless people on Rue St-Jean speak far better English than their staff do. These guys are very secretive about their prices (and for good reason) so I’ll put them here to spare you the pain of obtaining them yourself. After some difficulty I got them to send me an email containing their prices, and this is what was quoted to me: The initial enrolment costs $160 and the course materials cost $20, which does not include the books which cost $30. After that, attending the part-time program costs $280 per week, while the full-time program costs $365 per week. The woman who I talked to says that they offer discounts on these fees if you enrol for more than 1 week, but I can’t tell you what exactly these discounts are because I never bothered to find out after seeing the above prices. I obtained these figures about a year ago so bear in mind that they might have changed slightly or increased with inflation.

Negative experience: I had an extremely negative experience at this school. I would not recommend this as a place to learn French if you are a serious student. So much about BLI seems to be designed to waste time. A disproportionate amount of the time is spent doing exercises directly from the course material in class. Students regularly show up late. Breaks can extend a lot longer than the scheduled time. There are “exams” over three days every two weeks, but there is no way to track your progress or see historical results. The quality of the school is also weak. There are errors in textbooks that are only pointed out by certain teachers, and sometimes only if a student asks questions. When asked if the errors would be corrected, there was no response from the school. The “French only” policy inside the school does not exist either; school administrators regularly speak English & Spanish with students. I also regularly heard students complain about the host families and their accommodations, though I cannot directly speak to that. This is not to say there are not exceptions, there are some teachers there that seem to care about the progress of students. Though they are the minority. I would advise anyone serious about learning French to avoid this institution. They spend a lot on marketing, but not as much effort on the curriculum.

Fantastic experience: 私は4ヶ月間この学校でお世話になりました。 自分のレベルに合わせてクラスのレベルを変えることもできるので、安心して授業が受けられます。 私の場合は、まずA1.1クラスからはじめて、最終的にはA2.2クラスになりました。 はじめの1ヶ月~2ヶ月間くらいは先生やクラスメイトが何を言ってるか全くわからず苦しかったです。（私は英語もわからないのでなおさら） でも、2ヶ月過ぎたくらいで慣れました。言葉ではなく環境に。それからは学校へも楽しく通えるようになっていきました。 そして、先生達が皆優しい。 家を探す時は相談に乗っもらったり、歯に穴が空いたときは歯医者の予約を一緒にしてくれたり‥️大変お世話になりました。 授業中はもちろん授業外でも、生徒自身に意欲があれば先生達はしっかり協力してくれます。 人も環境も本当に素敵な学校だと思います。 BLIの皆さん、本当にありがとうございました！ Je vais continuer étudier le français àprès je suis rentrée à mon pays ️ Merci à tous!! （☝️たとえ完璧でなくてもフランス語で文が書けるようになったのが嬉しい!!）

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience with BLI from the very beginning. I was previously at EDU-Inter and I was having a very negative experience there, so I decided to try BLI. The staff is very friendly, the teacher, Audrey, was fantastic. I received a rigorous placement test with an oral test, the class was that of B1 for the morning grammar/use of language and then conversation of B2 with Jean-Charle. Being expert in climate/atmospheric science I also took the opportunity to discuss with my class and the teacher of the conversation class the topic of climate change in French, which made for a very fun activity. The people attending the school are very friendly, regardless their age, and we made a nice group at the end of the week with some fun outings. Quebec city is an appropriate place where to have a full-french immersion in North America, but if you are from Europe/UK do not expect the same lifestyle as there, it's still very much North American, though with a strong French influence. I feel my level of french improved greatly coming to Quebec City and I look forward to visit here again as well as Montreal.

Fantastic experience: I spent seven weeks at the school, and in those seven weeks my French has tremendously improved. This is a great school to learn. There are a variety of levels, which you will learn with an intimate group of people who are also at your level of French. It is entirely in French, and at first you will think `holy guacamole, this is difficult and it seems like all the other students know what`s going on`. This just takes a few days to become comfortable. I think from my experience I think its super beneficial to be entirely in French. As for the staff, the teachers want the students to learn and are patient. The director is also very friendly and wants you to enjoy your experience at the school. I believe the school cares about the wellbeing of the students. Another cool thing is that you will find variety of accents that come from all four corners of the world (of course it depends who are enrolled at the same time). Overall it is a welcoming space, and I would recommend! Enjoy your learning!

The staff are doing everything they can to create an environment which is friendly and conducive to learning french. Quebec City is a charming city and very french. If you want to learn french BLI and Quebec City is the place to go

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience with BLI Quebec and highly recommend it! I started with only a little self-study French experience, and BLI took the time to assess my skills before placing me in the correct starting level (A1.2). For the several levels I completed part-time, 9am-12pm, class sizes were approximately 5-8 students. This small group environment was great for active participation. I also appreciated the extracurricular and cultural exchange activities organized by BLI. The students at BLI come from all over the world, so native English speakers need not worry about the temptation to fall back into an English-speaking bubble. The language on campus est français, absolument! Québec is an excellent (and beautiful) city to immerse yourself in the French language and progress quickly. Don’t miss l’hôtel du Parlement du Québec just down the street!

Her comments to us included words like “fun,” “love my teacher,” “I made new friends from all over the world,” etc. The front office staff was very welcoming and eager to sort out any issues. Highly, highly recommend this school.

Nunca me llegué a sentir como “la nueva” ya que me incluyeron muy rápido en el grupo de amigos. El ambiente es muy familiar y cálido. Fantastic experience: Spending 3 weeks in French immersion at BLI has truly been one of the most amazing experiences of my entire life!! My desire was to learn as much French as possible during my rather short stay. Before coming, I didn’t know what it would be like but I dearly hoped to have a good teacher and that the time here at BLI would be very productive, interesting and fun. To my delight, I discovered that BLI far surpassed the hopes and expectations I had before arrival. I am extremely grateful that I chose this particular school over any of the others. The school is very professional and organized but also has such an intimate personal and friendly atmosphere. The entire staff is so welcoming and they truly nurture each and every student. There are so many opportunities even outside of class time to engage in conversation with both students and teachers. My teacher, Christiane, was absolutely exceptional and she listened to my goals and helped me to reach them, all the while creating lessons that were interesting, challenging, productive and pleasurable. She put so much time and effort into helping me to progress and I am truly grateful. I loved seeing local museums, watching films and visiting beautiful Montmorency Falls with Justine and the other students. BLI provides a variety of interesting after school activities which are held daily. Thank you to all the teachers and staff for your efforts and your success in cultivating such an enriching learning environment! I long to return again to learn more at BLI!!

Quand je suis arrivé à l'école de Bli je ne parlais pas français. j’ai étudié Frances en bli pendant 7 mois et maintenant grâce à l'école bli je peux parler, écrire et comprendre le français et c'est complètement incroyable. J'ai aussi pu rencontrer de nombreuses personnes de nationalités différentes, ce fut une très bonne expérience. Fantastic experience: C'est dans le but d'améliorer mon français, surtout à l'oral, que j'ai choisi le BLI. C'était une super décision. Le séjour à la BLI est très agréable, stimulant, intéressant, instructif et aussi amusant et ouvert. L'équipe pédagogique ouverte, le bon concept d'apprentissage et la direction organisée, les autres étudiants et les petites classes font de cette école, pour moi, l'une des meilleures. J'ai beaucoup profité et je suis totalement satisfaite de mon amélioration linguistique. Merci beaucoup.

Fantastic experience: Je recommande l'école de BLI Quebec! je suis Brésilienne. J'ai choisi BLI à cause des nombreux commentaires positifs que j'ai vus sur internet et à cause du service impeccable depuis le moment où j'ai demandé des informations et un devis au Brésil, jusqu'à aujourd’hui. J'ai suivi le cours pendant trois mois. Au début, je pensais que je ne réussirais pas et que parler français serait très difficile, mais aujourd'hui je peux dire que c'était sans aucun doute l'une des meilleures expériences de ma vie. Ici je me sens accueillie, parce que quand nous sommes en dehors de notre pays et ne parlons pas la langue locale, parfois nous nous sentons seuls et pas à notre place, mais pas ici, tout le monde est très attentif, de la réception à la coordination et les professeurs. Tous sont engagés et suivent de très près le développement de l'étudiant. Ce sont des professionnels qualifiés, mais surtout des humains qui se soucient des autres. Ils sont intéressés non seulement par l'enseignement, mais aussi par l'apprentissage avec les étudiants. Je remercie tout particulièrement les professeurs qui m'ont fait aimer et apprendre la langue française, ainsi que mes collègues de classe qui ont rendu mes journées ici encore plus agréables grâce à l'interaction, à la connaissance, au respect de la diversité des cultures et aussi parce que nous avons beaucoup ri ensemble. Vous allez me manquer ! Localisation privilégiée dans le centre de Québec qui est magnifique, personnel spécialisé avec un excellent enseignement. Si je le peux, je vais revenir étudier ici, c'est certain. Merci beaucoup à tous!

Fantastic experience: Thank you BLI! It was my first time learning French and I studied at BLI for 7 weeks. The environment is very fun and it is a good place for anyone who wants to learn French. J'ai adoré (I loved) my classmates and my teachers Salomé and Rachida. The school also offers fun activities outside of class. Merci beaucoup pour tout BLI!

Fantastic experience: I spent three months studying French at BLI Quebec from February-April, in the B1-B2 levels. I loved it, made some wonderful friends, and was incredibly sad to leave at the end of my stay. The school is small and friendly, and I really had all the opportunities I could hope for to succeed in my learning. The classes are small, and the teachers, directors and administrators are all open and happy to answer questions and provide assistance and encouragement. I would recommend it to anyone looking to learn French - you will have to put in the effort, but if you do it will be richly rewarded. I also recommend the homestay option for a full French-language immersion experience.

No solo por el hecho de que mi francés mejoró impecablemente, pero por la oportunidad de conocer diferentes culturas, amistades para toda la vida, las actividades después de la escuela que me permitieron explorar la ciudad, e incluso la comida. La escuela está ubicada en un lugar bastante céntrico, puedes caminar al viejo Quebec sin problema e incluso a los alrededores, y el ambiente familial es bastante acogedor entre ambos alumnos y profesores. Me encanto y lo recomiendo mucho!

Fantastic experience: minha experiência na bli quebec foi muito boa porque eu fiz amizade com pessoas de varios países diferentes, amizades que eu nunca imaginaria que poderia ter por questões de localidade e de idioma, e mesmo estudando apenas 5 meses na bli quebec eu ja consigo me comunicar muito bem e meu nivel de francês ja é relativamente bom, gratidão!

Fantastic experience: I have attended BLI two times. Once in the fall for 2 weeks and again for 5 weeks in January and February. The first time, I had such a good experience I had to temper my expectations, thinking it couldn't possible be as fun and educational a second time around. However, I ended up having an even better experience my second time. I have also been to another language school in France, and in my opinion, BLI was vastly superior. What really sets BLI apart is the communal nature of the school. It's a small and intimate experience. All the students and teachers eat lunch together in the cafeteria. You form bonds with the other students and learn and participate in activities together. All my teachers at the school were exceptional, and not just from a standpoint of teaching the material well, but in forming relationships with the students and making the class fun and exciting, even when the grammar was painful and difficult. I really cannot recommend BLI enough. Quebec is a fantastic city, a unique francophone region of North America that's not quite like the rest of North America, nor France. It is its own, beautiful entity. Between the city, and the people at the school, I think BLI is perfect for anyone wanting to learn French and I would love to return. Thank you to everyone who helped make my experiences so fantastic including my wonderful host family.
