The learning experience has far exceeded our expectations, and I am writing to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation. From the very beginning, your school made an excellent impression. During our initial consultation, Teacher Wendy not only used her professional expertise to chart a clear learning path for my child from an English-speaking background but also responded with great patience to my personal concern-due to my own lack of proficiency in Pinyin, she thoughtfully arranged a tailored Pinyin course. This student-centered, flexible, and practical support deepened our respect for your school's educational philosophy. In the Pinyin class, Teacher Siqin's teaching is exemplary. She transforms seemingly tedious content into lively and engaging lessons. Her explanations are crystal clear, her patience is unwavering, and she consistently offers timely encouragement. Expérience fantastique: My son is currently in Grade 11 at the Chinese Academy School. The teachers at the Chinese Academy School are highly qualified and have excellent teaching skills. Their classes are lively and engaging, integrating traditional Chinese culture and festivals into the curriculum. For example, students learn about Chinese holidays, make dumplings and Tang Yuan (sweet dumplings), and create greeting cards for Mother's Day etc. These activities help spark children's interest in learning Chinese. The teachers are very kind and patient with the students and often encourage them. When my son first joined the school, he was too shy to speak Chinese and was even reluctant to attend Chinese classes. Now, he truly enjoys the lessons, actively participates in class, and takes part in Chinese school activities. We are deeply grateful to teachers Mr. Wang from Class 10J and Ms. Chen from Class 11J for their support and encouragement in my son's Chinese learning journey!

Expérience positive: 我很喜欢孩子的老师，但是对于服务人员不是很满意。因为不确定在哪个口接孩子，问了带工牌的服务人员。态度很好，告诉我在大门的第一个口。虽然我觉得好像不太应该是那个口，一是因为看见那个口都是小孩子出来，二是因为我当时站在的路口标识上写着我孩子的教室号码。但是我还是选择了听取服务人员的指示，因为我觉得他们是专业的，而且那个标识我认为可能是上楼不是下楼。在她指示的路口等了十分钟也没有看到我的孩子，走廊的人越来越多，我觉得可能是哪里出错了，所以我去问了另外一个服务人员。她说她没有地图，让我查邮件，我查了邮件，没有看到应该在哪里接孩子，我给她看邮件以及邮件里面的地图，她也没看懂。期间还和他认识的家长聊天。我不喜欢他们这种不专业的工作精神和态度。

Expérience négative: Edit 3 years later: Forgot to mention that the teachers were mildly mentally abusive. They taught me nothing in 8 years of going there, and made me hate the Chinese language and everything about it. Experience a lot of bullying and now have severe anxiety and depression years later.

Expérience fantastique: Our child has been a student for six years in the Chinese as a Second Language program and I completed two semesters of Adult Cantonese. I highly recommend TCA for all families looking to support growth and learning in either Cantonese or Mandarin. Children receive a well rounded experience focused on writing, reading, and speaking the Chinese language. Parents know where how their child is progressing through the assigned homework and materials posted to Google classroom. Teachers have always been approachable and dedicated to supporting student excellence. In the adult option class the size is small and I benefited from tailored learning to my interests. Questions, concerns, and support have been consistently responded to by the TCA office throughout our enrollment and communication is frequent!

Expérience fantastique: The Chinese Academy has a group of really kind and knowledgeable teachers. It is a great place for kids from kindergarten to grade 12 to study in. I like their IB and AP programs very much. Their teaching materials are the most up-to-date and practically useful that covers all types of scenarios. I would say this is the first choice that you should think of if you want your kids to learn Mandarin and Cantonese in Calgary. One of the best in Canada!

Expérience fantastique: My kid is in Grade 11. We are absolutely happy about the school because they do offer a wonderful education. They hire really good teachers who are passionate about teaching. you can email them with your questions and they are quick with their responses. The quality of teaching is really good. they always encourage the kids use Chinese at school and home. My kid has to miss school few times every school year due to various competitions. They are very patiently and help my kid to make up school work smoothly. Actually, my kid got an offer to teach English in China this summer, of course , Chinese language should be so much helpful! Hopefully it will help someone else looking for the same info in a timely manner.

Expérience fantastique: I was a student at The Chinese Academy from 2018-2021 as a Chinese Second Language learner through the IB program. As a student with no background or experience with learning Mandarin, I had an amazing time at TCA. Although I occasionally struggled while learning a completely new language, I had the constant support of my teachers and peers who encouraged me throughout my journey. The TCA is a great school that not only teaches language skills but practical life skills as well. I would highly recommend TCA to anyone considering learning the Chinese language or culture.

Expérience fantastique: 闫蕾老师是位特别负责，对教学充满热忱和对学生亦师亦友的老师。她总是相方设法用不同形式的教学方法使教课不枯燥，使学生对学中文更加有兴趣。闫老师对学生们也是特别爱护，谆谆教导。我们很幸运在九年级有她这么好的老师。如果可以的话，希望闫老师可以十年级继续教现在的班。

Expérience fantastique: My kid started junior kindergarten at the Chinese Academy two years ago. His Chinese has improved so much! From saying nothing in the classroom to being able to memorize a 2 minutes long speech, we are so happy of the progress he has made. The class is well designed and the teachers are very patient to each individual. Compared to the school my older kid used to go to, the Chinese Academy is absolutely better! Overtime, the amount of Chinese they learn will be hugely different. Also, the IB Chinese program is very good as well.

Expérience fantastique: The Chinese Academy is a good, well structured Chinese language school that operates on the weekends. There is a morning session and a separate afternoon session. My son has been enrolled for the past 3 years and has been progressing pretty well. His teachers have been friendly and encouraging and my son enjoys attending. The staff work hard to make the school run and operate, and they keep parents informed.

Expérience négative: Hi! I am a graduate of this school graduating from CSL IB+MB class so my review and credibility is legitimate. I do not like the quality of education this school has to provide. First and foremost, some contextual background of my chinese history. I speak Cantonese and grew up in a Cantonese background. I learned how to write traditional Chinese and I attended a different Chinese school learning Cantonese. The reason why I had to switch to The Chinese Academy was because I had to take IB. Now here comes the problems: 1) No strict enforcement of rules and regulations The teachers and staff literally let you get away with anything that is not too major. 2) The TAs do not give any attention to your education. The TAs hired to help assist the teachers tend to care nor give any attention to the quality of education 3) Inconsistency in education and marking An example I have is that during dictation, I wrote many words in traditional Chinese when we were taught in simplified Chinese. I got docked 5 marks for each traditional Chinese word I wrote. I had brought this up to the TA who did not give any attention to the marking to which I brought this marking to the head teacher who had given me full marks. That is my simple review of this school. If you have any more questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Expérience négative: Was shopping around for Chinese schools for my kids and asked if I could drop by to see what one of their classes was like. Was told I was not allowed to without providing a reason. No other Chinese school in the city responded this way to me.

Expérience positive: Not the best Chinese School in Calgary in terms of quality of education but is still pretty good.

Expérience fantastique: Chinese school is a good school, with many kind teachers and good volunteers they helpd me a lot.

Expérience négative: The teacher was very rude to me and tried to get me to change programs but the superintendent was very understanding of the situation

Expérience négative: Unfortunately their method of learning is not fun or exciting. It is old school. Classrooms at time were very noisy and disrupted. Sad to not continue but they put more emphasis on kids that have already a background in Chinese by speaking, or writting which it is not fair if you have non of these at home. Only one teacher was good that motivation to attend was rewarding. However the constant change of teachers and lack of engagement lead to not continue.

Expérience fantastique: Strong academic school that is able to educate kids in their mother tongue or even non Chinese local born kids. My non Chinese classmate studied here and received credit for Chinese IB (International Baccalaureate), a testament to how good the program is.

Expérience négative: If i can i will give zero star, I WILL! Poor management, useless teaching material and after you pay the school fee, you will never ever get a reply from them, If you want to waste your time and money, I highly recommended. 如果可能選 零 星， 我一定選 零 星！ 超差的校務人員， 超差的教材！ 你交完學費之後， 你再也聯絡不到任何一個校務人員！！ 這是浪費金錢和時間的首選！

Expérience négative: Very bad school, teachers are lazy and don't teach anything. The office admins are not answering questions. The school only want make money.
