Fantastic experience: My experience in Kaplan Toronto is very good for now. If you dont figure out something the teachers are so friendly and patient. Since I arrived at Kaplan I improved a lot my English skills. My first teacher was Colleen, she’s a very patient with beginner students and my second teacher was Rodolfo, he’s so energetic during the lesson and knows how to make people want to learn English.

The teachers are open-minded and have the ability to explain everything in a clear and understandable way during the lessons. You get a lot of vocabulary and phrases that are used in daily life.

Positive experience: It is a truly wonderful experience. The school makes every effort to ensure that students have an enjoyable stay, offering a variety of both indoor and outdoor activities. The teachers are incredibly kind, supportive, and attentive to each student’s needs. I believe the integration process is excellent. All cultures are valued and respected. For example, celebrations such as Ramadan for Muslim students and Chinese New Year are acknowledged and highlighted, which creates an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone.

Negative experience: Hi, this is my Student ID: 2088987 I want to share my honest experience at Kaplan Toronto. To be fair, I met amazing people in my B2 30+ and C1 classes, and I also had some good teachers like Geff, Juliana and Mike. The reception team was always kind, and the academic team listened to me, even if they couldn’t do much in the end. Unfortunately, despite these positive things, my overall experience was not good, and I wouldn’t recommend this school based on what I lived. The most difficult part was what happened in my B2 30+ class with one teacher. From the beginning, her behavior toward me and other Latina women in our 30s felt negative and uncomfortable. At first, I thought it was just me, but later some classmates told me they felt exactly the same. We all noticed the difference in how she treated us compared to other students. She was passive-aggressive, easily annoyed when we asked questions, and made us feel small or unwelcome. Because of this, I started having physical symptoms from stress, including throwing up in the bathroom and more, and for almost two months I felt anxious before class. I had two meetings with the academic team (one alone and one with three of the Latina women who were also affected). We explained everything clearly, especially her behavior, and also that her methodology was not appropriate for adult students 30+. While the academic team followed up, there was no solid solution. The only thing I asked for was a teacher change or, at least, respectful treatment. The teacher suddenly changed her behavior the next week, so clearly they talked to her, and I was glad about that change. Eventually, the school moved that teacher to another group because of another incident with a friend of mine (also a Latin woman). When I thanked the academic team, they called me again to ask if I was “spreading the situation” (which I wasn’t, and honestly, I could have done it since day one) and to tell me that the teacher had never had problems with any specific group. They didn’t want me to use the word “discrimination,” which was the term I had used in an email to describe what was happening to some Latin women in our class. Still, five Latina women over 30 had the same experience. No one could explain why this only happened to us. Moreover, accommodation was also complicated. The Latam team sold the program without giving me accurate information. I repeatedly asked for help to move closer to the school, and for months they did nothing. Only when I escalated the situation to the North America team did I suddenly get a spot, but only for the last three weeks of my stay. It felt frustrating and unprofessional. In addition, and this is my last point, I was surprised by how Kaplan manipulates survey data, as well as Trustpilot and Google reviews. Last Friday, staff went from class by class asking students to write five-star reviews in order to enter a $100 lottery and to “help Kaplan become the best school again.” They even said there would be a party if the school wins. (If you look closely, most of the recent positive reviews are from last week.) They also encouraged students to give 9–10 on the final survey because anything lower “affects them.” To me, this is not honest and prevents the school from receiving real feedback or improving in the areas where improvement is actually needed. Kaplan may be a good school for some people, but my experience was extremely difficult and I could have avoided it. If you are thinking about studying here, please do proper research and don’t rely only on the reviews. But anyway, this was just my experience, you will probably be okay, but it’s important to mention when you don’t have a good experience. Thanks for your time, Luz :)

Some things can improve like a communication with staff and capacity to solve some problems such as when young students do a mess . I think the school could have more class 30+ . My teacher in General class was amazing but the teacher Kaplan club + could be improved meteorologically and in managing young people. Fantastic experience: Beyond academics, the school helped me build confidence. I learned how to work in teams, think critically, and adapt to new challenges. Some of my favorite moments came from school events, group projects, and conversations with classmates that later became close friends.

Positive experience: The attendance policy really needs improvement. It’s almost impossible to use sick days freely. You need to be sick for at least five days, and the doctor’s note must specify the exact dates you are required to rest. But no doctor can accurately predict how long someone will be sick. As a result, students end up asking doctors to revise their notes just to meet the attendance requirements, which completely defeats the purpose. This policy doesn’t reflect how real health conditions work and puts unnecessary pressure on students.

Fantastic experience: The school is an excellent place to improve or refresh your language skills. The teachers and students are very nice and friendly. They always strive to make the learning experience as pleasant as possible for everyone. There are weekly activities, so it never gets boring. It is a bit more expensive than other schools, but it’s worth it.

Positive experience: It's a good experience, but be aware that if you progress quickly after 3 weeks and then get bored in class, you have to wait 7 weeks, which slows your progress. We pay a lot to be held back for financial reasons that aren't our problem.

Negative experience: It’s been a month since I’ve been at Kaplan Toronto, and unfortunately, I’m not fully satisfied. Indeed, having had a very positive experience at Kaplan Manchester, I really fell from high when I arrived in Toronto. From the very first days, there were no clear explanations, or very few. I arrived at 8 a.m., they gave me a class, and I barely had time to introduce myself to the teacher. Here, it feels like a factory — we start working right away, there’s no time to even learn each other’s names. Of course, I might be exaggerating a bit, but I’m not far from the truth. Regarding the teachers, honestly, some are really dedicated and push you to give your best, while others just tell you to open the book to a page and do the exercises without really explaining anything. And if you have questions, the answers are vague. Obviously, this doesn’t apply to the entire staff — some people are extremely kind and genuinely happy to help — but sadly, those are the exceptions. As for the school staff, every request seems to come with a cost, or at least the need to justify yourself for absurd reasons. For example, I asked to be marked absent once because I had to accompany a friend to the hospital, where we stayed for 7 hours — with proof — but they refused, saying it’s “not part of the rules.” It’s as if they forget we’re human beings. Another time, I mentioned I take medication in the afternoon and would be better off in a morning class — they charged me $20 for the schedule change. Honestly, not very ethical. And if you complain a little too much, be ready to be treated like a target and not get any favors. But to talk about what’s good: the city is incredibly beautiful, the Kaplan facilities are very well maintained, and if you’re lucky enough to get a good teacher, the classes are high quality. As for me, my accommodation at Cherry House is perfect. I felt I had to write this review. I put a lot of my savings and hard work into this trip, so I want future students who plan to come to Kaplan Toronto to think twice. But when it comes to Kaplan Manchester, go for it with your eyes closed — the city might be less beautiful, but the staff’s kindness and professionalism are truly exceptional. Here, you don’t only learn English: you learn what it feels like to be surrounded, supported, and cared for, even thousands of kilometers away from home. From the moment you walk through the doors, there’s this warmth, this kindness, that makes you immediately feel welcome. When I’m not feeling well, when I have doubts, or even when I just want to complain (and trust me, that happens often ), I know exactly where to go. At Reception 1, I find Sol and Jessica, always smiling, always ready to listen and help me find a solution. And what makes me laugh is that they can already tell why I’m there — just by looking at my face, they know I came to complain . Then I hear that famous “Are you okay, CC?” — and honestly, it touches me so deeply. Because it’s not just a polite question, it’s sincere, it’s real, and it shows that there are people here who truly care about me. That little moment makes all the difference. At Reception 2, there’s Reyna, gentle and reassuring, who always knows the right words. You don’t realize how precious that is until you really need it. And then, there are connections that go beyond the simple “school-student” relationship. For example, Sadaf… every time she calls me “CC,” it hits differently. Normally, only the people who are really close to me call me that, so the fact that the staff here uses it makes me feel recognized, accepted, and loved for who I am. It goes straight to my heart ❤️. And then there’s Brittney… I honestly just love her too much . Every time I knock on her door, we exchange that smile that says it all: “I’m here again for another class change” . It’s become almost a ritual between us. I don’t think any student has ever bothered Brittney as much as I have with all my endless requests, and yet she always stays patient, kind, and smiling. Honestly, I don’t even know how she manages to put up with my constant visits, but that’s exactly why I appreciate her so much. And of course, Özlem. Always there with the right advice at the right time, with a reassuring way of putting things into perspective, and this calming presence that makes you feel better when you need it. Her words and her kindness have helped me more than once. My stay continues until December 19, and even writing this right now already brings tears to my eyes. I can’t imagine what I’ll feel when the time comes to leave. But I didn’t want to wait until then to say THANK YOU. Thank you for being such amazing people, thank you for being yourselves, thank you for putting up with my complaints, my jokes, and my mood swings. Thank you for showing me that a school can be so much more than just a place to study. You are my second family, and I already love you way too much ❤️.

Fantastic experience: My experience at Kaplan was wonderful. I improved my English a lot. There are excellent teachers. I can now communicate easily in English, and most importantly, I met wonderful friends.

Negative experience: I had the worst experience of my life with Kaplan. They take absolutely no responsibility. On the day I registered, I was told that 12 sessions would be suitable. I clearly said I wanted to try first, and the agent who called me told me directly: “If you don’t want to continue within two weeks, you can cancel without any penalty.” But later I found out they sent me a contract that said something completely different. I only attended 4 classes in the first week, but when I cancelled, they charged me for 2 weeks and then sent me an email saying I had to pay almost half of my money as a penalty. ⚠️ I strongly warn anyone considering registering: read the contract carefully. Otherwise, you will lose your money just like I did.

Fantastic experience: What an amazing experience… It took me a long time before writing this review and today I can definitely say that it was one of the best experiences of my life, almost like a personal achievement, this journey is going to stay forever in my heart and my memory. I spent 6 months in Toronto, 6 months beside Kaplan, my hosts and all these incredible people coming from each part of the globe.. and to be honest, these 6 months flew as if it was 2 weeks… I remember the first week when I arrived, I could almost not get 3 correct words out of my mouth, I was totally petrified with my A2 level. The teachers make you feel good, they push you gently on the way to succeed, I really felt the teachers were taking care of us/me and I liked that because thanks to that, I was able to speak freely without judgement. I left Canada 6 months later, being able to speak with almost everyone about random subjects, with a B2+ level and thanks to personal work, I turned C1 quickly after my departure and was able to write these kinds of texts without any check or translation. Everyone should have the opportunity to experience this once in a lifetime. I had a wonderful homestay, with outstanding hosts, still in touch with them.. they were open minded, cooked each dinner with new meals and very tasty delicacies during 6 months, I got a new house just built before I came, and built with eco friendly systems, which was very interesting to discover. I spoke during hours with my hosts, learning daily stuff and improving my English at the same time, they helped me and supported me a lot while I was 8000km away from my loved ones… To conclude with some hacks, I really advise everyone who wants to progress to use the range of books “English for Everyone” in order to work after, before your courses (although Kaplan’s courses are already just enough as you need) but that’s definitely not a waste of money because it’s gonna allow you to brush up your knowledge once you’re back in your country ; there’s an illustrated dictionary, grammar book, idioms book, phrasal verbs book and others. Try to avoid people from your language.. if you’re here to speak your language that’s definitely not the good place (you or your parents are going to waste a lot of money). And keep fighting and trying because the reward is way worthier than you think.

Positive experience: I love all my experiences at Kaplan, but honestly, there are so many Koreans especially in B1, B2 classes. Even though there is a rule "ONLY ENGLISH", sometimes it's kinda hard to speak only English.

Positive experience: ・You can meet a lot of classmates from various countries and have many opportunities to make new friends through school events ・You can receive a report written by your main teacher after graduation (This report is a very candid assessment. I think it would be good if they could write something that would motivate me to study English after graduation.) ・You can concentrate on English conversation because speaking any languages other than English inside the school is prohibited by the school (Most students follow this rule. But, unfortunately, there are some students who speak their native language.)

Fantastic experience: Just got back to Italy from my second experience at Kaplan Toronto, and I already miss it so much! I studied at the school for three and a half months in total, and I can truly say I’m absolutely satisfied. Academically, Kaplan is outstanding: I started as a beginner, and now I can easily have conversations in English at a B2 level (considering I didn’t know a single word before!).
